Sr Technology Consultant

POSITION OVERVIEW As a key member of EMC’s Ionix Pre-sales team, our Technology Consultants / sales engineers work directly with regional account managers and core TC’s to drive sales of EMC IT resource management software solutions into enterprise accounts. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The pre-sales Technology Consultant provides technical and IT operations and process-related consultancy to enterprise accounts. This person participates as a critical part of the sales cycles executing tasks such as needs-analysis, presentations, architecture discussions, and product demonstrations. The pre-sales Technology Consultant is responsible for identifying sales opportunities within accounts and identifying issues that may affect customer satisfaction or revenue attainment. Developing and maintaining relationships with key individuals within the customer account and becoming a trusted adviser to these individuals is a key skill required for success. This role is also tasked with identifying and promoting professional services into their regional accounts. Other Responsibilities include: • Conducting presentations to technical and executive audiences • Conducting proof-of-concept sessions to demonstrate technical capabilities • Providing pre-sales assistance to evaluators to demonstrate technical fit • Assists sales managers/sales reps in preparation of proposals • Build technical relationships within assigned accounts • Assist National Account Managers in Building Return on Investment / Purchase Justification documents for customers • Maintains an advanced technical understanding of products through continuous training • Assists customers in resolving IT process and technical problems EXPERIENCE / SKILLS This fast pace position requires a strong understanding of current ITSM, network, storage and application technologies coupled with the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences. You must be able to work effectively within a cohesive team structure as well as within an unsupervised environment. Additionally, we seek: • Demonstrated knowledge of technical solutions and ability to influence sales • Experience in solutions development in customer facing organizations • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and personal accountability • History of developing and delivering clear, concise, coordinated presentations and advising customers at all levels. • Experience personally deploying at least 2 of the following: IT Services Management, application management, and/or business management software • Knowledge of IT architectures and concepts • Windows, UNIX/Linux and/or network administration knowledge is desired • Previous experience with IT Services Management (ITSM) solutions • Familiarity with systems management and monitoring solutions • Basic Scripting skills (ie Perl, Unix) or some HTML knowledge is preferred. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related degree (or equivalent experience) • Experience as a Sales or Support Engineer in a customer-facing role ( 3 – 5 yrs ) • ITIL foundation certification is highly regarded.
