Job Description

Principal SW Quality Engineer Performance

SOFTWARE QA PERFORMANCE ENGINEER Responsible for participating in the execution of procedures for ensuring the quality and serviceability of new features and releases of software, with specific focus on product performance and stability testing in enterprise-like environments. Duties and Responsibilities:
Full understanding of overall business and competitive environment, including mission and strategic direction of the organization; significant contributor to organizational goals and objectives
Ability to lead people, projects, and operations
Ability to support and lead multiple efforts in parallel
High level of proficiency in all necessary processes, applications, and tools (Bugzilla, Quality Center is a plus)
Demonstrated knowledge of project management, able to identify business impact of proposed projects and designs
Demonstrated skill with development of new theories and methods related to testing
Collaborates with other engineers and engineering groups, voluntarily shares information
May be accountable for overall product and/or serve as a customer advocate, may represent organization as principal customer contact
Develops solutions to complex problems requiring frequent use of ingenuity & creativity
Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives, without appreciable direction
Offers proposed changes/suggestions to processes and products, exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of an assignment
Fosters teamwork and collaboration across work groups and with other organizations
Strong written and verbal communication skills, solid interpersonal skills, able to mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
Experience with hardware and software setup/configuration
Experience in testing methodologies and theories, test plan development, test case design, test execution practices, data collection and root cause analysis techniques, and reporting practices required
Experience and knowledge in computer system, storage systems and storage area networks recommended
Required Performance/Stability Test Skills: · Analyze load performance capacity needs from user requirements · Challenges requirements and design execution
Recommends alternatives to development staff
Create load and performance test plan
Develop load and performance test cases
Prepare test execution schedule
Determine performance environment requirements
Build and maintain load and performance t est environment
Determine load test data requirements
Create and maintain load and performance test scripts
Load and performance test
Identify existing performance bottlenecks
Load and performance analysis
Publish pertinent performance metrics
Participate in capacity exercises
