BI \ SQL Server Developer

SQL Server BI Developer (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS) wanted by EMC Consulting (formerly Conchango) Microsoft Gold Partner to work alongside our SQL Server MVPs.

We are looking for a Microsoft BI Developer / Consultant with experience in delivering data warehouse and business intelligence solutions with blue chip organisations. This is an excellent opportunity to progress existing skills with a leading Microsoft Gold Partner (in 12 competencies) with excellent career prospects and would suit an experienced developer who wants to move into Consulting as a career or an existing consultant.

EMC Consulting was the only non-US consultancy invited by Microsoft in Redmond to join its inaugural Business Intelligence Partner Advisory Council (PAC). We are now the longest serving PAC members and are high scoring presenters at PASS. This means we have very early visibility of Microsoft's direction in SQL Server and BI, and play an active role in influencing this, and have access to the most up to date releases. This is an opportunity to work alongside some of the best Microsoft BI implementation consultants. They include Microsoft MVPs and BI teams that have twice won the Microsoft's best BI project implemented on SQL Server

Responsibilities
We expect the successful applicant to be capable of:
• Data modelling based on business requirements, and optimisation of data models for business intelligence implementations
• Maintenance of existing data warehouse and business intelligence implementations (involving SQL Server tools)
• Communication with technical and business staff in technical and plain English language;
• Documenting all work carried out (e.g. data models, configurations, and setup);
• Occasional business analysis;
• Assistance in preparation of project proposals, including client and vendor meetings;
• Input into the EMC Competency best practice for BI projects.
• Taking an active role in communities (internal collaborative interest groups) to spread technical and project knowledge, to help improve best practices and to help identify areas of IP reuse.
Experience
We are looking for the successful applicant to have:
• Solid experience as a SQL Server 2008 or 2005 BI developer
• Development experience in team environment with mid to high-end projects from inception through delivery with competency in most of the following areas;
o Logical and physical database design experience.
o SQL Server 2005/2008 RDBMS database development including T-SQL programming.
o ETL implementation using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• BI presentation delivery utilising SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or other BI tools
• Client facing and thinking strategically from client s perspective to deploy correct solutions.
Skills and qualifications
We are looking for the successful applicant to demonstrate:
• An understanding and ability to work to the creative process, we look for Senior Creative Designers to be articulate communicators and champions to internal and client teams.
• Knowledge of the complete Microsoft BI platform would be advantageous, including:
• Performance Point
• BI capabilities of Office 2007
• SharePoint 2007
• Knowledge of leading BI & Performance Management technologies, including any of:
o Panorama
o MicroStrategy
o Business Objects
o Oracle BI (including Hyperion)
• Data Modelling tools
• ERWin , Sybase Power Designer or similar data modelling tools
• Other non-Microsoft database platform and ETL experience, including Oracle, Ab Initio, DataStage
